Reading: The Tea Story ☕
Every morning we like to begin our day with a cup of tea.
People began to speak about tea in Europe only three hundred years ago.
There is a story about an English sailor who brought some tea leaves from warm countries to his mother.
The sailor’s mother told her friends about it. She asked them to come for dinner and try tea.
Her friends sat round the table. Each man and woman had a plate with the brown leaves on it.
The guests began to eat the leaves, but nobody liked them.
When the sailor entered the room, he smiled:
“Mother, what have you done with those tea leaves?”
“I boiled them. You told me to do so.”
“Where is the water?” asked the man.
“I threw it away,” said the woman.
“Now you may throw these leaves away,” said her son.
“I didn’t know that we need the water, not the leaves.”
