SOME FACTS FROM THE HISTORY OF BRITAIN 🇬🇧

The Celts came to the British Isles 2,500–3,000 years ago.
Their tribes were called the Britons. They lived in small villages near rivers or the sea.
They caught fish, grew wheat, and kept pigs, cows, and sheep.
They made things from wool, metal, and wood and sold them across the sea.

Julius Caesar landed in 55 BC.
The Romans built roads, castles, and walls.
Emperor Hadrian built Hadrian’s Wall in 122 AD, 73 miles long.
The Romans named a village near the Thames Londinium – today’s London.

Later, tribes from Western Europe attacked the Britons:
the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes.
The Angles spoke English and became the strongest tribe.
The Britons moved to the mountains, and Anglo-Saxons formed kingdoms:
Essex, Kent, and Wessex – now counties in Great Britain.
