SOME FACTS FROM THE HISTORY OF BRITAIN 🇬🇧

Stonehenge

Stonehenge is a place near the River Avon in Salisbury Plain.
Huge stones stand in a circle — monuments left by people who lived there in 1900–1600 BC.

The stones are nine metres high, and each weighs about seven tons.
It is believed this place was a great temple where people worshipped the sun.

Every year, on June 24 (Midsummer Day), there is a ceremony at Stonehenge.
People come to greet the first midsummer sun ray falling on the stones.
They place fire, water, bread, salt and a rose on them.

There is a bright yellow flower that blossoms on the longest day of the year.
It was believed this flower helps in love and protects the house from fire and lightning.
