SOME FACTS FROM THE HISTORY OF BRITAIN 🇬🇧

Foreign kings ruled England for about two centuries.
They took large sums of money.
In 1215, people revolted against the king.
They wrote a paper called The Great Charter (Magna Carta), where the rights of the Englishmen were written down.
That was the beginning of the English Parliament.

Great Britain became powerful in the 16th century, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1558–1603).
Famous British travellers such as Walter Raleigh and Francis Drake sailed around the world.
They strengthened the British fleet and developed trade with other countries.

In 1603, King James I united England and Scotland.
Some of his enemies, led by Guy Fawkes, decided to kill him by blowing up the Houses of Parliament.
The plot was discovered, and all the people involved were executed.
The 5th of November has been called Guy Fawkes’ Day ever since 1605.
