🌍 Tekstas – Some Facts from the History of Britain

The first colony of Great Britain appeared in North America in 1607.
Oliver Cromwell (1599–1658) established a republic in Great Britain in 1649.
The Great Plague broke out in London in 1665. Many people died of that disease.
The summer of 1666 was very hot and dry. In September a great fire broke out in the city.
During the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901) large parts of Africa and Asia became colonies of the British Empire.
After World War II, many colonies became independent – Canada, Australia, India, and New Zealand.
Now King Charles III reigns in the UK.
