📖 Tekstas – Big Ben in London
The Clock Tower is in the Houses of Parliament.
The clock began its work in 1859.
The figures on the clock are 24 inches long, the minute hand is 14 feet, and the hour hand is 9 feet long.
The bell weighs 13.5 tons and is called Big Ben.
The man who supervised the work was Benjamin Hall, a tall man nicknamed Big Ben.
Since then, people have called the whole clock Big Ben.
There is no lift in the Tower, but there are 340 steps up to Big Ben.
At night, a light on the top shows that Parliament is in session.
